:) i am currently using xp2000 and will probably upgrade to xp3000 at sometime in the near future.

I would like some advice on quiet cpu fans, power supply units and reliable graphics card options.

the Nexus AXP3200 Athlon CPU Cooler and NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 have been suggested.

general feedback from the forum and some alternatives would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

I'm using the Zalman 7000 Pure Cu HSF on my 2.6C and it's really quiet.
PSU, I'd say go for an Antec True Power. If you want an aftermarket cooling system for your FX5200, try the Vantec Iceburg Pro 2. I'm using it on my FX5700U and it's quieter and cooler than before.

Stay away from Maxtor HDDs, they tend to be noisy.

Wrap aluminum tape between power unit and case for stronger airflow and to minimize air leaks.
Use rubber washers between screws and HD, CD/DVD etc.
Glue audio sound dampening mats on the inside covers of your case.
Try to screw all screws a bit tighter. Vibrations......

Although you are not saking for it I suspect you will use at leat one case fan. I recomend taking a look at everflow fans. They are a little below papst in performance but also quiteter. However they are much cheaper.

I have also noticed that on my more expensive Thermal Take fans it is stated "made by everflow" :)
