Ok guys at one time I was kinda computer savvy. But trying to understand how this XPCREATE works and how to configure the everything is really eluding me. I'm looking at all the posts and I just don't know where to start. I need help. The farthest I've done is extracted the XPCREATE to my hard drive.

Thanks.

  • Download and extract XPCREATE.
  • In the file XPCREATE.INI, edit for the correct values for CDBURNER and XPSOURCE
  • Add update files as per the Web Site - Current Hotfixes
  • Place your original XP CD, and blank CD in their drives.
  • Double click on XPCREATE.CMD

Ok. What's the deal about not able to use $OEM$, $DOC$ etc. I'm using W2K. Thanks. Once I get all this figured out I will return the favor of everyone helping me out by writing a guide 'Rednecks Guide to XPCREATE'

First, get a basic CD working, without $OEM$, etc. Then ... trial and error, test and test again. $DOC, and certain others, are "non-supported" directories. There should be a REF.CHM file in DEPLOY.CAB on your 2K CD, and that will give you all the "safe" options. XPCREATE has nothing "special" about it that would make it different than a "standard" 2K Unattended CD.

Virtual PC. On the Links Page:

I think you'd best spend a day or two reading before you ask too many questions ...

Thanks. I'll do that and then the stuff I don't understand I'll submit a list of questions of stuff I don't know rather 'henpicking' people full of questions.

Thanks
