XP installation freezes XP setup stops Rate Topic: -----

I was trying to help a friend upgrade an old Compaq desktop. I removed a 64 MB chip and added three 128's. I was doing a fresh install of XP and all going well. When I got to "Setup will complete in approximately 35 minutes" it stops. I restarted process several times with same result. Any help?

are u sure u bought the correct kind of ram?

does the motherboard support that much ram?

try doing it with only 1 stick of ram in?
