I am running Windows XP and a warning box has appeared as follows:-
"Attribute:
Power on Hours count changes from 98 to 97."
Clicking on OK removes the box.
Can anyone explain this, please?

looks like you are using S.M.A.R.T. to monitor your diskhealth
when the counter is 0 your harddisk should fail ;-)

mine only gets to like 20 and the begins to fail, so I jsut get a new one.
