I followed the instructions for creating a bootable streamlined XP cd with SP1. After burning the cd I tried to boot from it and received the following error:

BOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR
Please insert another disk

Does anyone have an idea as to what I might have done wrong and how I can fix this? Thanks in advance for your time! :)

Did the boot image get added in your burning software? I had this problem until I did a search on Google for the Microsoft Boot Image and used that one in Nero. No problems since then.

If the image was used, you should get a "Press Any Key To Boot From CD" or something of that nature.

I chose the boot.bin file I downloaded from the tutorial as the bootable image source. The CD that I actually copied the CD-ROOT data from was not an originally bootable cd. Could this have anything to do with it? This is actually why I am trying to streamline a CD b/c I need a bootable Windows XP cd but the current XP cd I have is not bootable and requires me to use a series of floppies to boot a machine and then install from the CD. Any suggestions? Thanks again ! :)

Surf to the guide again and download cdimagepro /cdimagehome, it's much better!

I don't see anything on the guide page referencing cdimagepro, is this a cd burning utility or what?

Here is the guide I'm using: http://www.msfn.org/articles.php?action=show&id=22

Stupid question, but is your copy of XP full or upgrade?

It's a full version of Windows XP Professional, has autorun and what not so that you can install as an upgrade if you so choose, but you also can boot from floppies and install fresh. My hope is to use the slipstream tutorial to make a bootable version of the CD. I'm actually trying to install the OS onto a Virtual machine in Virtual PC so I don't have access to floppies on the machine and need to be able to boot from CD for a new installation.
