homiebrah Posted June 7, 2004 Share Posted June 7, 2004 Got a question for the masses.We had about 30 users install Office XP from a network location, call it \\server1\offcexp_usethisone. We were forced to move the software to another location , called \\server2\officexp. When the users go to install SP3, it makes the call home looking for the installation source. Since \\server1 is not around anymore, they tried pointing SP3 to look at \\server2. It tells them that these are not the proper files and refuses to continue to install.Is there a way to modify the registry to point to \\server2? Do a find for "\\server1\offcexp_usethisone"If you find it anywhere (Which you probably will) replace it with the path your after - you might also like to make sure that your using the right CD that you originally installed with - i've seen previous install's be picky about which CD you use. LaRcOs Posted June 11, 2004 Share Posted June 11, 2004 Okay, in that case - i would still repeat the same process.Chances are that the path is stored SOMEWHERE in the registry...Most commonHKLM\Software\Microsoft\OfficeOR Plan B which REALLY sucks... - Remove office from all of the computers, and then re-install from the start at least that way it will reset the correct path.... then you can patch themSorry i couldnt be of more help Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
