I have made an unattended CD with XP and Office XP in it...

Problem is i only use MS word and MS excel.. I downloaded the Resource kit and customised my install of Office XP

But this makes the XPCD like 1 Gig and i cant burn it to a CD..

Does anyone now how i can make it all fit into one CD ??

Btw anyone no where i can get the Winamp 2.91 MSI from and wat switches and commands do i need to put in my batch to do a silent install without no support for video files ?? thanks

hehe, everyoen wants THAT MSI and not the 5.0. I'll go dig through my CDs when I get home....I'm sure it's on one of them hopefully (I made it).

As for making it smaller, use OfficeShrink for Office and nLite for Windows. You'll probally only need OfficeShrink. It's in the sticky thread.....

i dunno if ICQ has a switch specifically like that...

most people use either pskill.exe or taskkill.exe

pskill is from systernals, and taskkill comes with XP Pro.

pskill.exe icq.exe
taskkill /f icq.exe

both do the same thing, kills icq.exe

you're using a not english, espanish or danish native version. if you look throught the post of office shrink you'll see it only works for that versions because it's still in deployment of a multilingual version. 7mb it's only the setup files, you have note an error running the shrink tool.

Do you mind telling us what you did to fix it?

I'm having a problem like this too.

office 2003 :::

Make it fit onto a Windows CD with ease... Word, Excel and Publisher in 295mb (it fits on my cd with ease... but I am using nLite as well)

1) use the "Custom Installation Wizard" to create your Unattend.MST file (choose options for what programs you want etc etc)
2) copy your entire Office CD Source to "C:\Office"
3) place your Unattend.MST file in the same directory
4) Use "OfficeShrink" and point it to C:\Office\Setup.exe and C:\Office\Unattend.MST.... tell it to install to C:\XPCD\$OEM$\$1\Install\Applications\Office
5) Once it has finished you get the message "Office setup completed successfully"
6) Make your install command = %systemdrive%\install\applications\office\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb-

or, make Office install off the CD (saves copying 300mb of office setup files to the hard drive during text mode setup)

Same as above, except these steps different:
4) tell it to install to C:\XPCD\Office (instead of in the $OEM$ directory)
6) make your install command = %systemdrive%\install\office.cmd
7) make "office.cmd" and place it in $OEM$\$1\Install

office.cmd:
@echo off
echo.
echo Installing Office 2003 Professional
echo.
echo Please wait . . .
echo.
for %%i in (C: D: E: F: G: H: I: J: K: L:) do if exist %%i\CD.txt set CDROM=%%i
start /wait %cdrom%\office\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb-
exit

Note: this batch file won't work unless you put a file in your cd root named CD.txt

Just wondering before I do it again, is it supposed to have no GUI while it's running? (After I point the directories out)
I see the officeshrink running at 50 CPU in process manager. But when do I know it's the end and done? I do not get a prompt or whatever. I always end up with 7 mb in the new directory.

When you run ShrinkOffice, does it do its work "silently"? I'm trying it out now, and the last I saw was the "Gathering Information" progress bar after I pointed it to my MST. Task Manager shows it still running, but there are no dialogs or anything. It's using 98% of the CPU but it's been running now for almost 2 hours.

Is this normal?

my memory is bad I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning... and I ran officeshrink yesterday or the day before :) hahahha..

I'm fairly positive I had a progress bar (like an office installation progress) and when it was finished I saw the "Office setup completed successfully" although, I did not get the "Shrink finished" message...
