Hey everybody,
Can anyone tell me how to disable the "Getting Started with Windows 2000" screen that pops up by default in Win2k? I'm trying to monitor what's going on behind this annoying thing but I have to close it manually. I'd like to disable it in the registry if possible. Thanks,
Shawn
P.S. I know I can uncheck the box, but I don't want it there at all. Thanks!

Having just reinstalled 2000 Pro, I can say that this annoying screen does indeed show up on non-server versions of win2k.
No clue how to get rid of it, though...

Hey, im' just about to do a Win2K install to test a mutli-boot CD I created.
I'll see if I can track down the reg entry when I got it up and running.

Here it is:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\tips] "Show"=dword:00000000

Will that get rid of this for all users, or just the current user? Oh, and the box for server is a bit different, that is the Manage or Configure your Server, something like that. This is akin to the "Tip of the Day" in Windows 9x. Thoroughly annoying.

Building A Server or Desktop - as the only ID (Administrator) on the box, copy the administrators profile (My Computer | Properties) over the Default Users Profile to force this setting on all new logins/profiles for the box.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\tips] "Show"=dword:00000000
This also works to disable the "Manage My Server" screen.
