That reg tweak to delete the "Links" folder (under Favorites) and keep it from coming back -- it works great. But in Favorites, I also get a sub-folder called "Favorites". No matter how many times I delete it, it keeps coming back. Is there a similar trick to make it go away?

FWIW -- it also creates a little button next to the "Go" button. When I delete the "Favorites" sub-folder, the button goes away. But then they both come back.

I'm already using that tweak. But I end up with both a "Links" sub-folder, and a "Favorites" sub-folder. The Links never comes back after deleting it, but the Favorites one keeps comig back.

youre sure? make sure you have it delete the key, then recreate it and set it locked...there was another reg tweak that someone posted that did only one of the 2 steps...either deleted and didnt recreate, or erased the value but didnt delete the key first...

I have a problem with my visual styles... I apply the registry tweak... (turning all visual styles off except for a couple), and reboot...
in checked in the settings box under "performance", and the correct ones are checked, but the settings are not applied...
any ideas?

Have the same problem, but I have deactivated this option in my reg (during windows install t-12)

Did you disable the themese service by accident? also check your winnt.sif

I do not plan on installing any unattended programs. I just want to have all my tweaks in an unattended file.

Is it ok to put all my Local Machiene tweaks in my cmdlines.txt regtweaks.reg file?

Hello all I am new to this community and to say the least i have found it most informative.

I found this tweak (can't remember where) ..lol thought i would put it up ...if it has already been posted i appologize.

Navigate to either

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 (if you wish to unhide the zone for just one account) or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 (if you wish to unhide the zone for all accounts)

Change the value for Flags to 1, then reboot (if you modified the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE branch)

Start up Internet Explorer and navigate to Tools >> Internet Options
Click the "Security" tab, find the new Computer Zone

that's a great find but, there's a problem..
there's a unique identifier in there

My bad, use this instead;

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Attachments]
"SaveZoneInformation"=dword:00000001

However, it should work without this key. This key only tells Windows not to store information at file level (applies to ntfs only) about in which "zone" you got the file you're trying to open. (Yes I know it's confusing that SaveZoneinformation=1 actually means don't save, and SaveZoneinformation=0 means save... stupid MS Logic...

).

So, If you added the other values as you said, it should work perfectly. :lol:

Remeber to restart the machine after adding. Also, if you're using these reg-settings in an unattended setup, remember that many of the HKEY_CURRENT_USER keys must be added at the very end of the installation. Run regedit to check that they were applied correctly.
