I'm almost out of ideas. I'm starting to think it's impossible to silently install my particular version of McAfee Virus Scan.

None of the installer specific command switches work. None of the McAfee install switches work. I couldn't get it to work by taking the TEMP files, and it also didn't work with WinINSTALL LE.

I'm using the University of Washington licensed version of McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise Edition 7.0.

The furthest I got was McAfee seemingly being installed, but the virus
scan and update engines were not intact. The standard McAfee silent
install switches do not work on the UW supplied McAfee installer
package. I also have tried hacking the install by taking the contents
of the extracted files (From C:\Documents and
Settings\user_name\Application Data\name_of_folder) without success as
well.

I haven't tried the other countless number of installation packaging programs, but I am getting very frustrated. Is there some way that Im just overlooking or haven't thought about?

If you want, go to this link to download the program and see for yourself:

VirusScan copies given out by Universities are for their students ONLY. Otherwise its warez

Hi jagojago12,

just extract your vs7.exe with winrar. inside it you'll find a msi-installer where you can use the /qn-switch like:

vsp7\vsp.misi /qn

It would also help to know what the errors are.

Also, McAfee provides their Installation Designer with the license for VirusScan Enterprise. If you have your Grant Number, it is downloadable from their site, it will alow you to customize the install and then it will create a custom MSI from your settings.

VirusScan Enterprise 7.1 works fine unattended. I've deployed it to 3000+ systems.
