Aaargghhh. Help me. Reg phile not importing.

Recommended Posts

Lo peeps...need a spot of advice again.

I Hve got my unattended dvd workin ok, except the reg file (registry.reg) doesn't import during install, "install" folders are not deleted after setup, also i never see the "Windows XP will now restart in 5 seconds" window.

Could one of the updates be causing a re-hoot automatically?

Could someone please ave a look at my files and see if there's something i've missed out on?

Many thanx in advance if you can.

Did you try running the start.cmd file after XP has been setup to see if it has any issues? If not, give it a shot.

Would recommend importing your .reg file during setup, using cmdlines.txt.

As for the winnt.sif, if you're having a problem with drivers, add the following line:

[unattended]

DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore

Last, check to make sure that your $OEM$ file is in the right place. Here is a look at where it should be:

@ homiebrah - I've added a cmdlines.txt file to the oem folder and moved my reg file there as well.

This is how i've setup my cmdlines file:

[COMMANDS]
"registry.reg"

Is this right?

@ Think my oempnppath is long coz i got 3 drivers loading, IDE, RAID & SATA?

Am testin this setup now on VMWare...post back soon....

@snakefood

Believe you need REGEDIT /S to kick off the registry.reg file.

My Cmdlines.txt file looks like this:

[COMMANDS]
"useraccounts.cmd"
"REGEDIT /S autologon.reg"
".\RunOnceEx.cmd"

I'm only now playing with the autologon portion.

What about the regfile doesn't import?

Also, I can tell by your CMD file, that neither the delete command for your drivers Drivers nor your Shutdown command are being executed. And that's just be looking at your code. Put the command that delete INSTALL AFTER the other two. Allow for enough time for Windows to fully delete Install in your shutdown command.

Also, to allow for COMPLETE removal of the install folder, put your CMD file somewhere else besides in DRIVERS or INSTALL and ahve another line delete it.

OEMPNPDriversPath limit is upwards of 1000 characters (even more if you're not using sysprep) so you're NO WHERE near that, and that is not the problem.

REGEDIT /S is neccesary when calling REG files.

Also, could you reframe from using shorthand in your post. I know your English and everything, but alot of the more knowledgable people won't repsond to you, just because of the way you type. Files is spelt Files, not Philes. My is spelt My not Me.

Firstly..wow, yep my drivers are still not being deleted and my pc is not shuttin down.

Secondly..I do have a habit of always typing how i would say something. Will refrain from it in future on here.

Put the command that delete INSTALL AFTER the other two
After which 2 - could you state a little more clearly please
REGEDIT /S is neccesary when calling REG files

So should my cmdlines file read:

[COMMANDS]
"REGEDIT /S"
".\registry.reg"

or should i write another small batch file, call that from the cmdlines file and have that call the registry file?

put your CMD file somewhere else .....

Is this refering to my cmdlines file?

I've currently put it in the $OEM$ folder, is this ok?

it's REGEDIT /S (FILE) like blinkdt has it.

As for the commands....

ECHO.
ECHO Deleting Temp Installation Files...
RD /S /Q %systemdrive%\install

ECHO.
ECHO Deleting Driver Installation Files...
RD /S /Q %systemdrive%\Drivers

ECHO.
ECHO Restarting the PC in 5 seconds...
shutdown.exe -r -f -t 05 -c "Windows XP will now restart in 5 seconds"

to

ECHO.
ECHO Deleting Driver Installation Files...
RD /S /Q %systemdrive%\Drivers

ECHO.
ECHO Restarting the PC in 5 seconds...
shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now restart in 5 seconds"

ECHO.
ECHO Deleting Temp Installation Files...
RD /S /Q %systemdrive%\install

OR, you could prevent it another way. Move Install.cmd OUTSIDE your INSTALL folder. So instead of it being in $OEM$\$1\Install on your CD, move it to $OEM$\$1 and change the line in your WInnt.sif to %systemdrive%\Install.cmd
