Before Windows Media Player 9 series I used WinAmp, but I got the feeling WinAmp used a lot of resources. Any comments on this?

Well, I used to use WMP9 and Winamp alot too ... but that all changed when I found Jetaudio 6 ... It's simply much better than all other players I've ever used ... Stable as a rock and has all the feature I felt was missing in WMP/Winamp ... I suggest u all give it a try!

:)

Most media players take up a lot of resources, but I always use Winamp. I haven't been able to fully analyze Jetaduio 6, but out of all the other media players I've ever used, I think that Winamp is the best.

I use WinAmp most of the time. I only use WMP9 for video playback.. and I use iTunes to keep my iPod synched. WinAmp is what I use the most, though.

WinAmp 5 rocks! :)

No matter what it is that I want to play (or rip/record), it has to be either winamp that does it, or a plugin for it.

Windows Media player is the best of all in my opinion. Have one of you found a player with jukebox capabilities without spyware (realmedia), support to wma/mp3 (itunes doesnt) and so easy to use? Winamp rocked at his time but doesnt now, itunes doesnt support wma and install quicktime you wanted or not and real products are full of advertisement. Any alternative? :)

When winamp 3 came out, I went to WMP9, but when Winamp 5 came out, I switched back to good ol' winamp, self-proclaimed whipper of llama asses everywhere.

HOWEVER: winamp 5 still starts up too slow for me, even on the best hardware.

Only with Modern Skin, I think.

Sure! Modern Skin is highly attractive.

The strange point here is it occupies only about 20 MB in memory. But even if you have 512 MB RAM, it's still slow. WEIRD!

Not just 512 MB, I've got 1.5 Gigs and an X800 pro and it STILL slows down.

<extensive grumbling>
