Wishtread for WIHU :whistle:

- multiple commands per softwareitem
Example:
...
description.1=Windows Media Player 9 (+ Hotfix Q819639, Q828026, Q837272)
command.1=cmd.exe /c Windows\wmp\mpsetupxp.exe Q /R:N
command.1a=Windows\wmp\WindowsMedia-Q828026-x86-DEU.exe /passive /o /n /z
command.1b=Windows\wmp\WindowsMedia9-KB837272-DEU.exe /passive /o /n /z
command.1c=
....

- log-entry in [settings]
additional environment variables (time and date) which i can use for unique logfilenames: log=c:\wihu\logs\%computername%_%username%_%date%_%time%.log

- chekc file against filedate and string
check if the file in file.x.y is newer, older or equal a date or if the file contains a string like findstr in DOS

- move thread "Changelog" to Important Topcis
if it's possible?

- store size of windows
thx for resizable windows :thumbup . Initial values of size and position (in install.ini) would be nice or the last size and position is stored in an additional inifile and restored by next call of WIHU

- Tooltips per softwareitem

- disable softwareitems in depence of OS-type
Windows Media Player 9.0 for XP and W2K has different setups (mpsetupxp.exe and setupxp.exe)

- Toggle
i will make an installation for different office and java versions and only one version should be selectable

- Favorites
my install.ini has many entries and i would make a section with favorites links to existing programs in other sections. I didn't want du duplicate the entries, because the user could install the program twice.
...
[Favorites]
description.0=[Utilities]description.0
description.1=[Windows]description.1
description.2=[Viewer]description.0
[Utilites]
description.0=Winzip
[Windows]
description.0=Media Player
description.1=Office
description.2=DirectX
[Viewer]
description.0=Irfanview
...

Thx,
opensurf

Hhm, I don't know if this is a good idea. :no: In a log file there should be as much as possible and necessary because it is created to troubleshoot problems and bugs. And usually the log file isn't viewed by "normal users" repectively deleted after successful operation. Moreover if someone want's to see what is really done by WIHU he just has to look into the INI files. So I plead for showing everything in the log file and not hide anything!

I don't exactly remember if it was related to the user-creation page, but there was a switch or a setting in the INI, which did it.

EDIT: Ran a "/?" on the exe, and saw the "/UseCurrent" switch. I suppose that is the one to directly go to software installs.

/UseCurrent skips user creation, but don't skip settings. You should use this switch.

thx prathapml and Benjamin , i guess you mean these settings to use:

[settings]
Usecurrent=1 or 0

but this would not help me...
I want it on runtime as an option on the userscreen before i have to click next.

today i f***t up a server install cause wihu changed the computername i did not noticed/forgat to look at :-( while i clicked next it was to late, it changed my domain controllers name and i hade set wihu to start install and reboot automatic. I canceled but the server started to reboot.
I got i strait later, but i lost some valuable time.

Oh wel we learn from our mistakes....

there is one other request, maybe an option to copy files from cd to ....
I know, i still do it with xplode but then again why not...

greets

vv

See this Screenshot. It's possible.
But note, this wont create a primary user, BUT it will create each user which is specified in [users] section (if any).

Thanks for the reply, i was aware of that funtion and i used it but...the tree fields where not blanc, the recieved there info from the ini, and gave it to the os.
Question, what would have happend if i blanked these tree fields? Would it left alone these computer settings?

Sorry, I'm so stupid ... I forget to implement reading it from ini file.
I fixed this.

Btw. to cancel a shutdown in progress just start "cmd.exe /c @shutdown -a" to cancel this.

Hello Benjamin,

i have got a little request:

Is it possible to get an option to select between a RadioButton (Optionsfeld) and a CheckBox (Kontrollkästchen) for each command (see picture), so that you can select only one thing in a group.

Thanks for your reply

Yes this group.x command.
Usage example can be found in changelog thread.

Already done.

Windows Media Player 9.0 for XP and W2K has different setups (mpsetupxp.exe and setupxp.exe)

Please use key.x.n for this purpose! See Changelog Thread for example.

The group.x works fine, but if choice one has subcommands (with checkboxes) and i choose option two, the subcommands of option one remains selected.
It's possible to deselect the subcommands of option one when i select option two?

Example:
...
description.1=Adobe Acrobat Reader
command.1=*
group.1=1
description.1.0=Acrobat Reader 5.1
command.1.0=AcroReader51_DEU_full.exe
description.1.1=Acrobat Reader 6.0.2
description.1.1.0=Update auf v6.0.2
description.1.1.1=Photoshop Album 2.0 Starter Edition
command.1.1=AdbeRdr60_deu_full.exe -p"/v\"/qn\""
command.1.1.0=Acro-Reader_6.0.2_Update.exe /v/qn
command.1.1.1=psa201se_ger.exe /v/qn
file.1.1.0=%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe?6.0.2.126
hidden.1.1.0=1
...

When i deselect both options, the item "Adobe Acrobat Reader" should always be disabled, if possible.

Thx, opensurf

No that's not possible and also not necessary because if option one isn't selected also it's subcommands will never be executed.
