Problems that are in WINXP SP2

Flaws in Windows XP SP2 security features
Microsoft's update troubles deepen further
Programs that may behave differently in Windows XP SP2
I think they should release Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Final again which will have all the problem/fixes solved.
Do you guys think that there will be another release of Microsoft Windows XP SP2 soon because of these security issues and problems?

M$ will probably throw away some patches and that's all.
Releasing another SP2 Final would be unacceptable for them. They are already put on the wall by IT specialists.
I predicted that this will happen.
Read an old post of mine
Boards are full of SP2 generated errors, software incompatibilities, problems caused by SP2.
That's Microsoft and their lovely Windows.

The need to prevent a re-release was what was served, right when MS had programs of betas and RCs for testing by the public in the real world conditions.

What behaviours have people noticed about programs on that list? I mean I use some of those programs (Nero, Quicken, etc) and I dont want them "behaving" differently. I dont think its worth all the s*** that you get for upgrading to SP2.

Releasing another Windows XP SP2 is impossible or Microsoft will be rude to the customer. so I think they will release the patch.

Poor Computer Management
Inexperience
Laziness
To quick to install a program because it looks pretty and is free
I know some with the mentality that one can just get in a car and drive it for life..not knowing that you do have to change oil and replace tires every now and then...."READ THE OWNERS MANUAL" is usually a good start.
No one says you have to install SP2...or for that Matter use any Microsoft Product...more people should take the time to learn and listen...instead of Whine and if you think you are living in a Perfect World..then someone needs to make you an appointment with a psychologist.

To continue your fallacious car analogy, if a manufacturer released a car that required a tuneup only a week after purchase they wouldn't say say, "well, we didn't make you buy the car." They would recall the car.

MS is ONLY responsible for their own code! Patches have already been issued for issues with SBS 2003 and the MSBSA 1.2.
People have issues with SP2 mainly because their systems are tweaked 6 ways to Sunday or they have hidden issues they are unaware of and they think applying SP2 should work regardless if their system is screwed up or not.
I have applied SP2 across 250+ machines and not a single issue... but then we are not a bunch of "home" users with systems tweaked into uselessness... are systems work just fine without all the "user" tweaks...

this is the most used operating system in the world for home/office use(desktop)
so most chances you will see the bugs faster then you see a bug in mitsubishi:)

And, I'd like to point out, the bug referenced above has nothing to do with clueless users. However, if mocking end-users helps you rationalize whatever issues you might have when discussing this topic seriously then by all means go ahead.

So MS is responsible for ALL the code that runs on XP? MS has for years allowed 3rd party companies to test their code against all MS OSes to gain Certification. MS will not give certs to crappy code. That is not their job nor their responsibility.
If I'm a code developer who works at Norton, then it is my companies responsibility to make sure "our" code works with whatever MS throws out there... MS has worked on SP2 for some time... it's not like they just threw the SP2 code out there and will stand around while the dust settles... Norton knew there would be changes... it is their responsibility to make sure their code works...

Windows works fine..when you first install it...it all that crap you tend to add...and back to the car sample.....thats like adding the them fuzzy dice to the rear view mirror...because it looks cute..and then you total your car because of ignorance and couldnt see out of the front windshield...then have the gull to blame the car manufacturer.
Many software manufacturer...probably care less if there programs work with MS..they got your money...and expect you to blame MS.....

Nice discussion you have going here,
And yes, an amazing thing was the release of a patch within a week: you can find it here (the formatting is such that this page isn't able to take up the link)

Programs that connect to IP addresses that are in the loopback address range may not work as you expect in Windows XP Service Pack 2
So is it time now, to start a "Hotfixes for Windows XP SP2" thread yet?

If SP2 makes changes in the OS for the better then those changes should be made. I'm not sure why you're being so defensive.

And I said that MS is not responsible when 3rd party applications break the OS. The responsibility falls on the company that wrote the code. MS is not responsible for Norton products nor is Norton responsible for MS operating systems...

No serious OS takes this attitude, not even Windows.

At least they still do their job patching the holes when they find out the bugs and problems. Don't worry, if they make it, they will fix it.
