Hello Mazin,

"But, we don't need to re-create %TEMP% folder again. The slash after %TEMP%\ means deleting objects inside TEMP folder, not the TEMP folder itself."

I dont agree with you. Unfortunately, with or without "\" the directory passed in parameter to RD /S is deleted itself. (Tested with Win XP)
used with /Q, no question is asked.

Good Continuation and all my respect mazin. ;)

Then, I was fooled by those undeletable files?! So, TEMP stayed there.

Thanks for clarification.

None of this works for me!

I can install NSW 2005 silently, and I can install NIS 2005 silently, but I can not install both of them whether I delete the temp folder, temp files, etc., or not.

NSW 2005 bombs out if NIS 2005 is already installed.

Has anyone actually installed both silently?

Sorry! I'm still waiting for some spare time to come, so I can test and find a way.

However, you can try the idea of prathapml.

I'm getting closer.

If I install NSW 2005 first, then NIS 2005, both install silently, but....

The PC restarts immediately after NIS 2005 installs, so my .cmd file does not finish. I'm deleting the temp folder successfully, and I'm using the following command for NIS 2005:

[CODE]start /wait NIS2005\SYMSETUP.EXE /O CHECKPREV=0 REBOOT=ReallySuppress /QB

Just finished another test without the CHECKPREV=0 switch. NIS installed silently after NSW and the batch file continued correctly. Perhaps the CHECKPREV=0 switch is incorrect.

One additional comment - when the NIS install starts, it spends a fair amout of time (probably 30 seconds) 'Initializing' and it seems to uninstall the antivirus component that NSW installed. Then it reinstalls NAV and continues with its other components. Strange. Is there a way to suppress NIS's installation of NAV?

Thanks guys for the help in this thread.

It's working now, without the CHECKPREV=0 switch, but NIS still seems to uninstall NAV, then reinstall it.

Everything installs in an unattended manner.

It's good to know that its woriking now. Have you tried removing the NAV forlder inside the NIS folder? Maybe prathapml was right. I will try it when I get the chance.

I said CHECKPREV=0 to be used with NSW not NIS!

Right. I tried that with NSW (not NIS) and it didn't work. If I install NSW first, then NIS, it works, but without the switch.

This is what I expected earlier.

Three days are left and I'll get those files to check. I hope I can find a solution.

Good luck.

mazin,

In case you missed it, it does install silently for me if I install NSW first, then NIS. And I can't use the CHECKPREV=0 switch for NSW (irrelevant since I'm installing it first anyway). The only 'issue' is that NIS uninstalls NSW's NAV, then reinstalls it. It takes a bit more time, but at least it works.

Would be nice if NIS had a switch that suppressed the NAV part.

If you learn anything when you have access to the software, I'd appreciate any info. If not, I can live with what I've got.

Thanks again.

Well!

This is what I'll concentrate on.

Stay tuned.

Does anyone here know if it's possible to add a serial number into the switch of Systemworks? Because Systemworks asks for a serial number during the installation.

Greetings Koen

Hi guys,

This is my first post but I've read this site for a long time and I've learned a LOT from all of you. GREAT JOB !!! I've just finished my first unattended last night so I'm pretty happy :thumbup

Anyways, back to the topic.... Does anyone know how to save your NIS2005 settings like popup rules, cookie rules, firewall rules etc from an existing PC and then transfer them to the new install? I have so many rules created I don't want to have to redo them every time I set up the new PC.

Heres an idea that i believe is possible...Im not sure what the reg key or coding would be as i use a reg key to change the name and location of my temp folder. but maybe you could do something similiar to change the temp location or name temporarily then change it back...im about to start doing some testing on that note so ill post anything i find. ;)

[OFFTOPIC]
For some strange reason whenever i install NIS2005 i cant install anything that uses WISE installer or the msiexec.exe(Installshield I believe) and i cant uninstall NIS2005 after the fact) it jus locks up. If anyone could help me on that plz message me.
