So, is it possible? I've always bought english software because it gets distributed earlier than localised versions and because heck, everything computer-related is ought to be in english, no ?

But now I wondered: I have a dutch spellchecker lying around - is it possible to add it to the Office 2003 install cd in a way that I can chose during the installation if I want to install the dutch language pack or not? Maybe there's an app for Office such as nLite for Windows, who knows?

Hope someone can clarify this.

If you need to reduce the size of your Office 2003 install folder, you can use Office Shrinker - its right here in this forum. I reduced the size of my install, to include only word,excel and PPT viewer - and office 2003 installer is now only 40 MB.

You *CAN* have that spell-check add-on installed along with rest of the things - just find out the silent install switch for it. Mostly you need to use just the "/QB" switch, if it is an MSI-installer.
Now, whether to do this, you want to make it a 2-CD unattended install, is up to you - info available here, please search.
As for a way to have a choice, of your uA install asking you a question of whether you want to install the dutch language-pack or not, that's far easier to implement. And you have a choice of the HOW for that as well - batch-files, VBscripts, WIHU, XPdeploy, and so on.

I tried searching the forum, but I would have never guessed my question had something to do with 'application switches', so I'm very sorry to have posted in the wrong section.

On topic: the dutch spellchecker comes with an installer very similar to the office 2000-installation, complete with entering a valid Office license-number and everything. So I thought it might be possible to add the new laguage folders to the rest of the cd and then editing the installer file. This was my question - I realise now I was not very precise in my first post.

I do realise that I can add a batch file (there are several ways apparently) to the installation, but I was looking for the 'smoothest' approach - anyway, I'll try a new search with the new keywords I have learnt

If so, then just using the same switches should be enough.

And about putting these files to the office-install folders, and editing the installer, its not recommended, because it can create a lot of errors, besides the complexity involved. You can rather put both folders - the Office2k3 install, the dutch spell-check - in one silent, self-extracting archive (using winrar/7-zip). That will be more helpful in saving space occupied on the CD.
