Hiya

I want to upgrade microsoft word as at the moment I am using the 97 version.

Problem is I don't know which is best to go for

Which out the following is the most reliable and less buggy one:

2000
2003
2005

Your opinions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Lou :thumbup

I have been using Office 2003 for some time now and have not had any major problems and no crashes that I can remember due to word. A lot of docs I use can be big and bulky and it works fine. Athough if you want to furture proof go for the latest.

Hail Hail

I can get Word 2005 as part of Microsoft Works. It actually works out cheaper to buy it that way

Are you sure? Microsoft Works 2005 contains Word 2002, according to the Microsoft website.

Versions I loved most are word 97 and 2003.

In my point of view, if I should like 2003 over 97, it would be due to OCR accuracy.

Microsoft word 2003 is the better ver to get. It has better collaberation between the various programs. Hence it is easier for you to work on files between different apps (excel and access). They have better import tools, enhanced security...

Most of all its stable.

At work, Secretary Department used versions 2000 then 2002. Version 2003 is more stable and faster than both.

Any reasons to say that? ...

I much prefer 2003 sp1 over XP SP *anything* like most people have answered before.

Never seen it or even heard of it, and we have tons of people using it who never complained either... I can't see that as a reason to stay with some old version. Can't be that much of an issue.
