I think kurt476 tries to install it silent AND have avast registered at the same time.
I dunno if there is a way to silently put the serial in the app. But if there is I'm REALLY interested!

@Glowy
It is a way to register and install silently for avast4 not avast3. Thats what everybody including me thought he was talking about.

I am aware that those switches are for a silent installation.
But it doesn't enter the registration number for me (and probably kurt) (Home edition for me)

download avast4pro

install after go to the

ennhanced interface user /file /crete silent instalation.

this will create file.ini just edit to change serial.

put it in the same folder of the setup and simply run without any switch

i hope it helps

@kurt: good choice about av; as jquintino says, install avast normaly, set it up exactly the way you like it, and then from the enhanced user interface (pro version only) select create silent install.

you can find more details in avast help, there is a special section about this.

@buletov, jquintino
Kurt476 is trying to silent install avast3 not avast4. I already suggested he use avast4.

this is for professional

Creating silent installation of avast! program

This option, intended especially for network administrators, makes it possible (and easy) to install avast! on an arbitrary number of computers, without any interference from the users. The installation may contain predefined settings of the program and tasks.

To create the silent installation:

1. Install avast! on one computer.

2. Modify the avast! settings exactly as you want them to be on the other computers.

3. Set the parameters of the tasks (as you want them).

4. If you wish, set the password to access the resident protection settings (and termination).

5. In the Enhanced User Interface, select File ® Create Silent Installation.

6. Set the parameters of the silent installation:
Silent mode - During the installation on the target computers, only error messages will be displayed.
Very silent mode - During the installation on the target computers, no messages will be displayed.
Installation path - Enter the folder to install avast! to (by default, %PRGFILES%\Alwil Software\Avast4).
No reboot - avast! requires the computer to be restarted after the installation. If you select this option, the reboot will not be requested.
Ask for reboot - When the installation is finished, the user will be asked to reboot.
If neither No reboot nor Ask for reboot is checked, the system will be restarted automatically when the installation is finished.

7. Click the Create button.

8. Select the folder to store the files necessary for the silent installation.

9. The following two files will be written to the selected folder: admin.ini and tasks.xml. The file admin.ini contains the settings of the avast! program, the file tasks.xml contains the settings of the particular tasks. If the password for resident protection settings was set, there will be another file in the target folder: aswResp.dat; it contains the encrypted password to access the resident protection settings and termination.

10. Put these two or three files into a shared folder.

11. Put the avast! installer into the same folder.

12. On the target computers, start the avast! installation from this folder.

for those who dont like to search:
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?board=2;a...y;threadid=8467

They also state there that silent install for Home is not supported.

this is my way:

run setup.exe /SILENT /SP- /NORESTART

and use the dos tool iniedit to modify the settings in the avast4.ini
but not the license number :(

maybe it can be done with the inf file... but the only settings I know for that are
[Setup]
Lang=default
Dir=c:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4
Group=Avast! Antivirus
NoIcons=0
Components=

using AutoIt script for now...

you dont need to use any script or switch.

when you create the file Admin.ini there is a stage where you choose the silent installation and no reboot

REG ADD %KEY%\015 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\Install\avast4\setupengpro.exe" /f

just use this with the Admin.ini tasks.xml and the setup

and

voila

silent installation without reboot

see my Admin.ini

[Admin]
SilentInstallation=1
VerySilentInstallation=0
Path=%PRGFILES%\Alwil Software\Avast4
Serial=
Reboot=no
SvcAccount=
SvcPassword=
ScheduleBoottimeScan=0
[Admin.upd]
SilentInstallation=1
VerySilentInstallation=0
Path=%PRGFILES%\Alwil Software\Avast4
Reboot=no
SvcAccount=
SvcPassword=
ScheduleBoottimeScan=0
[Languages.ini]
etc....

if you see at the begennig that i said

Attached File(s)

That's only for the PRO version. I'm talking about the HOME version.

uhm nope, didn't try that..

But doesn't the home installer use an .inf instead of an .ini?
don't have the time to test it anytime soon..
Might work tough
