m1m1m1m101
Incroyable HULKIn KB article no special information for Prescott C-0 stepping (not D-0).Here only information that on computer using this processors can hang up andfor this computers update has been released. The fact, that update showsin windows update on winxpsp2 system is strange. There is no possiblereason for this. And there is no information about legal post sp2 hotfixinstallation.According to article content the problem for the sake of hotfix createdis the computer stops responding and no other. It's not look like peoplethat have hanging up computer can access the windows update service.Where is the logic? There is no information about why can i install this update, for which purpose?Windows update service is more comfortable method of getting windows update, but there is no warranty from errors. The reason for people to install updates is not to see, that windows updateservice show, that the all currently updates has been setup. I do that forprovide security to my system, not to see some messages from microsoft. Can you mark on the first page such problem updates, than the people knowabout the troubles. And what's about KB894391?And why KB884020 not removed from list, it's replaced by KB893066. matthewj1012
When certain updates are removed from the list does that mean they are not needed? For example, KB873339 was removed with the addition of KB896424.However, KB873339 is still listed in my Add/Remove Programs list even after I installed KB896424.If I were to start a new clean install of XP should I leave out KB873339 and other updates that have since been removed, or does it make a difference? The reason why it still appears on your add / remove list is because the installer added it to the registry so you can remove it, when the new hotfix was installed, it did not update the registry to reflect that it has since replaced that file.So to answer your question, you do not need to install outdated hotfixes. Doing so would just make it redundant. Edited November 9, 2005 by Gee
