I bought a SATA dirve (Maxtor 160 gb 7200 8mb).
My mobo is Giagbyte 8IG1000.I don't have RAID support.
I dont have any drivers so I searched in my manual and found that i could
mount my drive in remap mode so that it's seen as a normal ATA drive.
Does this affect my performance and/or life of my drive?
THX!

At the moment I dont think there is much in it regarding performance, the ATA133, SATA160 are only max burst speeds ( I think) they rarely go balls out when transfering data, but at least you get to use a nice thin cable, although they dont seem to want to bend as much as ATA cables
Try Gigabytes web site to find your driver.

@benners
OK.
I've searched Gigabyte's site and didn't find any driver so I'll leave as it is.
THX for the reply.
