7z.exe a -r -sfx -mx=9 somename.exe *

this is for creating a sfx with ultra compression in commandline.

but in real dos mode you have no chance extracting/creating a 7zip as eagle pointed out already.

WinRAR has a DOS version of itself (rar32.exe) - which can create SFXes for use with true DOS.

thanks guys, for the explanations ...

i found that 7za.exe stated it's command-line => assuming it can be used under DOS mode ...

i was trying to find alternative to pkzip.exe because of its lack of compression ratio ...

i'll fiddle with rar32.exe and/or rar.exe in DOS mode now ;)

again, thx!

place the attached (extracted) file on the winrar (win32) main dir. with this module you'll be able to create RAR-SFX archives for DOS ;)
was a difficult find, hope you can enjoy it :)
