For solo games, Morrowind ranks pretty high up in my charts... especially with the expansion packs (you can buy the bundle now).

diablo series
moh series (i use to play moh:spearhead online more than any other)
half-life and half-life2
quake series
nfs series
pro evolution soccer / winning eleven series
doom3 and farcry
... so many ...

But if really favourite game had to be chosen, gimme Age of Empires Series any day!
Age of Mythology (Titans Expansion) is good for graphics, and Age of Empires 1 (Roman Expansion) is SWEET because it will play even on a dinosaur (cyrix 200 MHz, 32 MB mem) perfectly - giving hours and weeks of unspoilt strategy game fun.
