I have my Windows XP Pro setup so that The Taskbar and Explorer run in a seperate process. Problem is that sometimes the taskbar will crash and not start up again. When this happenes with Explorer I run "explorer". So what should I run to get the taskbar and start menu back?

Just hit Ctrl + SHift + Escape to start the tast-manager.

Then in the menu choose Run...

And type explorer! Explorer.exe works for the taskbar too.

I should have explained that when I enter Explorer in run, windows explorer pops up instead of restarting the task bar.

that is because it has been modified a regkey. i can remember which was exactly, content of the key is "explorer.exe" ...
... 2 mins later...
... just a bit of google.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"Shell"="explorer.exe"
restore this key and come back if it doesn't work :D

That entry already exists in the registry.
