Shell32.dll error Rate Topic: -----

Hi !

I ve a problem with my modified shell32.dll

I ve modifyPE -c and makecab my shell32.dll

Then I "try" to disable the windows file protection :

- I replace the SFC_OS.DL_ in my I386 folder with one a download on the forum

- I add this line in my HIVESFT.INF --> HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon","SFCSetting",0x00010001,0xffffff9d


And i ve error with shell32.dll and this others dll :

Error loading shell32.dll
rsaenh.dll
dssenh.dll
netman.dll
netshell.dll
odbcconf.dll

Someone can explain me exatly how to do ??

now that you've told us what you did (sort of), what and where is the error?

In my unattended installation the files copy is OK

But i've the error at the beginning of windows components installation

The error message is :

Error loading shell32.dll !!

And the installation STOP

Did you edit ALL those files? Or just Shell32.dll? did you use nLite? are the missing files listed in txtsetup.sif, are the missing files even in I386? (keep in mind, they may have the .??_ extension)

I edit shell32.dl_ , explorer.ex_ and uxtheme.dl_

I don't use nlite , i do nothing in my winnt.sif.

And the files are in i386 folder.

What is nite ? And how I can use it?

did u modify pe the files after u edit them?

Yes I ve modifyPE and makecab

But I don't use nlite , I need it ???

Nlite is a automated tweak software.

mmkay, so you get the error during setup correct?

you modifed 3 files, and replaced them. And yet you have 6 missing files.
What else did you do? Check txtsetup.sif to make sure they're there (not just the ones you edited, but the ones that are missing as well).

And no, don't use nLite. It's just typically a cause for missing files, so I was trying to eliminate variables.

I check in my txtsetup.sif and all are there

I replace my SFC_OS.DL_ with one i found here
But my my XP CD isn't SP2 and it's a french version .
Maybe that's the probleme ???

you used a SP2 SFC_OF.dll file for a NON-SP2 OS? Don't EVER cross version numbers like that.

I tried with NLITE this but it's still not working !!

I ve this message just before the windows setup :

WinLogon.EXE - Entry point not found

I click OK and I ve the same message a about shell32.dll :

"error loading shell32.dll

error unrecoverable : specific code error is 2 ......"

everything work when you replace the files with the original ones correct? just do a test real quick, and report back. Don't just assume.

When I replace the modified files by th eoriginals Everythinks is OK.

My unattended windows XP works perfectly.
