IN an attempt to stop online game cheats, one company has gone as far as banning cheats from online tournament play for two weeks and removed their ladder records.
Warcraft developer Blizzard Entertainment recently closed 20,504 accounts that were found to be using Warcraft III map hacks, which gamers were using to enable them to see into their opponents' territories.
Blizzard says it will randomly monitor games connected through Battle.net to ensure fair play, and the accounts of players found using map hack programs will be deleted and their CD-keys may be permanently disabled.
"We regret having to employ these extreme measures, but certain unscrupulous players impair the game play of the Warcraft III community as a whole and severe action is now both warranted and required," Blizzard says.

Yes. Good move. I got so darn tired of loosing because of that. Took me about two minutes to figure it out. Why did it take them so long to do something about it. My record sucks.

I think we should be happy that the even bothered ... I online se it as their duty to ensure that the B.net servers are running ... not to ensure fair play!

Personally, I think it should be done with all online games, or at least provide the option to play with and/or without the hacks...ie punkbuster on RTCW.
