I'm just wondering,
I apply most of my reg tweaks during the cmdlines.txt portion using
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT
instead of
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
just wondering if there is a difference?
... I am just speaking of keys specific to these sections, not hklm, hkcr, or hkcc

Settings applied to HKU\.Default take effect before a user is logged on. Once a user is logged on it uses the settings in the HKCU key. For example to change the screensaver password you change the following key:
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"SCRNSAVE.EXE"="login.scr"
I generally apply all my patches to the HKCU section of the registry.
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
"SCRNSAVE.EXE"="login.scr"
I generally apply all my patches to the HKCU section of the registry.
