If this "MS Linux" project becomes a reality, will you use it?

Giving the extremely unlikely case that this will ever happen I would most definitly give it a try! ... Not because I like the idea, but because my inner geek dictates me to try something as odd as this ...

yeah i would also give it a try. I have to much time on my hands it will take some off. But the idea just seems a little odd.

The only reason a decent, upstanding company like Microsoft would purchase Linux is to force it off the shelves. Windows is far more reliable, far easier to use, much more compatible and far more secure.

I'm wondering the same thing. If microsoft wanted to use linux and create a new distro, they could, entirely for free, however, I think the linux gpl prevents them from selling this (but they can sell the tech support to go along with it, this is what redhat does, or sell the CDs or community membership like mandrake)

MS couldn't just *purchase* Linux. It's not owned by a corporation or individual like proprietary operating systems. It's basically public domain, with a GPL license. Now, they *could* make their own distribution, but I still consider this highly unlikely.

IMO, I'm already using something similar with an nLited XP. But if this ever become reality, I'd give it a shot, but only in VMware.
