Wicket20519
During the last 20 minutes of the Windows XP install when my hotfixes are being integrated, MSN Messenger just pops up out of the blue, asking me if I'd like to log on to the service, and I have to close out of it to finish the install. This happens before I've even logged on for the first time.Here's my WINNT.SIF file:;SetupMgrTag[Data] AutoPartition=1 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates="Yes"[unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes UnattendSwitch=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWSOemPnPDriversPath="Drivers\000_chipset\xp\;Drivers\001_network\WINXP\;Drivers\002_graphics\Driver\2KXP_INF\;Drivers\003_sound\WDM\" DriverSigningPolicy = Ignore NonDriverSigningPolicy = Ignore[GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=35 OemSkipWelcome=1[userData] ProductKey=XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX FullName="Brandon" OrgName="Home User" ComputerName=ROGUE1[Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1024 YResolution=768 Vrefresh=75[TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 AreaCode=410[RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 Language=00000409[identification] JoinWorkgroup=MSHOME[Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=YesHome_Page=http://www.yahoo.com[Components] msmsgs=off msnexplr=off freecell=off hearts=off minesweeper=off pinball=off solitaire=off spider=off zonegames=off[GuiRunOnce]%systemdrive%\install\install.cmdAnd here's my svcpack file, in case that helps...?;Windows XP[Version]Signature="$Windows NT$"MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=1BuildNumber=2600[setupData]CatalogSubDir="\i386\SVCPACK"[ProductCatalogsToInstall][setupHotfixesToRun]KB867282.exe /q /n /zKB873333.exe /q /n /zKB873339.exe /q /n /zKB885250.exe /q /n /zKB885626.exe /q /n /zKB885835.exe /q /n /zKB885836.exe /q /n /zKB886185.exe /q /n /zKB887472.exe /q /n /zKB887742.exe /q /n /zKB888113.exe /q /n /zKB888302.exe /q /n /zKB890047.exe /q /n /zKB890175.exe /q /n /zKB890830.exe /qKB891781.exe /q /n /zqchain.exeAlso; KB887742 does not install itself fully. After I've finished installing XP and I go to Windows Update, it says that KB887742 has already been downloaded to my computer and that when I click "Install Updates" it will finish initializing the hotfix for me. Anyone else have that happen?Thanks for any help!
ml20
it may be one of the hotfixes you have listed there that executes MSNM at the end of the install. are any of the hotfixes for MSNM?and if you have MSNM installing or upgrading somewhere in that period of time, like a 13 min mark, make sure you have the right parameters. which you probably do. but actually, i don't know if in your case it actually hinders the install of other programs, because if it doesn't, you could just leave it up. even though i agree it would be annoying. Wicket20519
it may be one of the hotfixes you have listed there that executes MSNM at the end of the install. are any of the hotfixes for MSNM?That's what I was wondering. On MS's website, the following critical update is for MSNM:KB887472: Microsoft has released a security update to Microsoft Windows MessengerLooks like that narrows it down quite a bit...now I must find out how to disable it from launching MSNM!and if you have MSNM installing or upgrading somewhere in that period of time, like a 13 min mark, make sure you have the right parameters. which you probably do. No, I'm not installing/upgrading MSNM. But thanks for the suggestion!but actually, i don't know if in your case it actually hinders the install of other programs, because if it doesn't, you could just leave it up. even though i agree it would be annoying.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Yes, it really doesn't stop the install; it just gets on my nerves! Thanks very much for your help!
