and this is my svcpack.inf

After the installation finished, i visited http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ and the update, number KB890830 was on the list of critical updates.

I had no errors during installation, everything went smoothly.
Can anyone explain why the update is listed in the windowsupdate critical updates?

What tests can i run to see what went wrong there?

Thanks

Also, Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool was not listed in the critical updates. Shouldn't be listed there?

I noticed the same thing so I ended up installing it in my runonceex.cmd

REG ADD %KEY%\270 /VE /D "KB890830" /f
REG ADD %KEY%\270 /V /1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\KB890830.exe /q" /f

Don't know about the GDI detection tool.

Cool.

I guess i can do the same for all the updates, and totally drop the svcpack thing, right?

Thank you.

Please use "/Q" and do not use "/Q /O /N /Z"...

WHY?

Please refer to:

Ok.

I just asked why, because according to these instructions, i must use the "/Q /O /N /Z" switch.

But i guess KB890830 is an exeption.

Thanks

...or instead of running the EXE you can just add this registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\RemovalTools\MRT]
"Version"="805647C6-E5ED-4F07-9E21-327592D40E83"
Consider this, do you really think you have to worry about a virus being on your system at the time when that EXE runs? Didn't think so.
