- I have a simple LAN - - (DSL, router, and two computers)
- XP on both computers - - all ethernet connections
Problem:
For some reason, some of the shared folders and harddrives I routinely used to share, no longer share. I get the following error message:
"xxxxxxxx is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command."
I can still share printers (both ways) but can only share one harddrive from computer A to computer B. Each computer recognizes all the shared items on the other computer. Windows explorer displays exactly what is being shared on the other computer, however when I click on the shared item, I get the above error message.
- I don't believe I have any problems with the "workgroup" setup - -
- I double checked the "NIC card" setup (proper protocols, etc) - -
- No problems with DSL on both computers - -
- I tried a different router and different NIC cards - -
- The guest accounts are enabled - -
- I even connected A to B with a crossover cable, same results - -
I'm running out of ideas, any help would be apreciated

I think you need to switch on simple file sharing:
Open My Computer
Click on Tools
Click on Folder Options
Select View tab
Scroll down the list and click to enable Simple file sharing.
Do this on both machines.
Hope it helps. Cheers.

Hi TomcaT
"Simple File Sharing" not listed
Are you sure it's listed in XP Home Edition?

You could try downloading SafeXP and use that to see if File Sharing has been diabled. If that option it is checked in SafeXP, uncheck it.
