Have you removed USB FDD support finally?

Well, according to this:
%USB\VID_03EE&PID_6901.DeviceDesc%=USBSTOR_CBI,USB\VID_03EE&PID_6901
USB\VID_03EE&PID_6901.DeviceDesc = "Mitsumi USB Floppy"

seems no. Are you stating that all USB FDDs will fail?

I'm discussing this topic here for more than 1.5 year and nobody reported any success.

The problem seems to be in Win98 DISKTSD.VXD that is incompatible with Windows Me files contained in NUSB - and Windows Me DISKTSD.VXD is incompatible with Windows 98 SE.

It should be tested if any of USB FDD driver is so generic that it can be used with any USB FDD.

I see where u coming from Petr most of these people don't try to fix the problem @ hand
they just update them and adding more support doesn't fix the problem.
sometimes u gotta fix things yourself.

Many thanks for NUSB. Used it to get Samsung MP3 player working. Their supplied driver wasn't much use :-(
But yours worked like a dream. Now all I've got to do is to figure out how to use the thing ;-)

I can see that you have included a newer version of advpack.dll and explorer.exe (4.72.3612.1700) in your Russian version af NUSB 2.4. When I want to compile a danish version, do I then need to find advpack.dll and explorer.exe 4.72.3612.1700 in danish version?
If yes - where can I obtain these to files? I have all the other files required for a localized version. Unless there has been added more files, which needs to be in localized versions.

I've found a explorer.exe 4.72.3110.1
Could you upload the .sed file, so I can compile a danish version?

Hi Maximus Decim and all of you,

here is information about a new USB stick, which is not yet supported by nusb24. Recently I bought a 1GB CnMemory Core USB stick at an "Atelco"-Computerstore in Germany (it means these sticks are probably sold in large quantities in Germany). Here it is:

http://www.cnmemory.de/core.htm

Although this stick does not need a driver with Windows ME, it was not detected by nusb24 under Windows 98 SE. Finally I got it working with nusb24 by adding these entries to USBSTOR.INF:

[Manufacturer]
%CnMemory.Mfg%=CnMemory

[CnMemory]
%USB\VID_1516&PID_8628.DeviceDesc%=USBSTOR_BULK,USB\VID_1516&PID_8628

[Strings]
CnMemory.Mfg="CnMemory"
USB\VID_1516&PID_8628.DeviceDesc="Generic USB Flash Disk"

CnMemory is actually just a distributor, not a manufacturer, but I do not know, which manufacturer hides behind "VID_1516" and even Google did not help in that matter. These sticks are offered with different capacities (512MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB) and the entries above are, of course, only applicable to the 1GB stick (the others will need different PID numbers).

CnMemory also offers generic drivers for Windows 98 SE, which support at least all USB storage devices (USB sticks, MP3 players, cardreaders) they have sold since 1998:

http://www.cnmemory.de/treiber.htm

I used their driver for USB sticks for determination of VID, PID and protocol. By the way, this driver looks quite promising: With the exception of one brand ("VID_0204", view ICUmss.inf), all USB sticks are supported generically. Perhaps this driver (and the other two for MP3 players and cardreaders as well) could be an alternative for those, who have no luck with nusb24.

The CnMemory drivers for USB sticks and MP3 players are identical, so there are basically two drivers - one for USB sticks / MP3 players and the other one for cardreaders.

@Jonazz.
I have been looking for a danish version of NUSB for quite some time.
Have you successfully compiled a danish version of NUSB?
If you have, i would be very glad if you somehow could upload the file or email it to me.
It doesn't need to be version 2.4 if you haven't been able to get the files needed yet.

Thank you for the upload. I will give it a try when i get back to work next week. We have some old machines with win98 at the school where I work, in which it would be nice for the pupils to have the option to use usb devices.

@Jonazz Well couldn't wait, so i found another computer with win98se. The danish version 2.21 did work on both my usb-flashdrives, but not my usb-harddrive (not so important). So pretty great!

- I was wondering, if it is possible just to overwrite the language dependent files in version nusb24e with the ones from the nusb2.21dk you send be? (by fx. using winrar)

- Or, is it possible to install the the nusb24e and just skip the files, that the install process is warning about, not being the correct language.

Anyways.. Thank you for the danish file. I'm looking forward to implement it on my schools computers, and hope most of the pupils/theaters usb-flash devices works. (Btw.. if you do get the new version compiled with the danish files, i would be grateful for a copy of that version to)

I think it is more reliable if I could obtain the information needed for compiling 2.24da (some questions in an earlier post + the .SED-file needed for the compiling). I think I have all files required for compiling the new version.

my usb-harddrive didn't work either, have not tried with 2.24.
