ThA_FiLeR Posted December 10, 2002 Share Posted December 10, 2002 Ok, ever since I built my computer together I'm haveing a weird problem with my heatsink fan, well it's not really a problem.. But it annoys me, like each time I click something that uses a bit of cpu I hear my heatsink fan run faster very noticeable and then when the program loaded in it continues like it was before again.. And today I posted some news about how pc power supplys only produce what they need... And my cpu temp is pretty high if you ask me, when it's basicly on idle (just browsing some of msfn and having winamp run) it's at 46C and my avg room temperature is around 22-24C..Any clue, if that's the problem?Edit: check my case pics on what I have, it's an Dragon Orb 3... FthrJACK Posted December 10, 2002 Share Posted December 10, 2002 maybe, and i havent checked over your spec yet, its to do with where you plugged it in, does your board have some feature for fan control? or the fan itself?it sounds like its supposed to do that in that case! try plug the cpu fan into a different fan point. or take the sensor wire out that might do it, the sensor wire is usually blue or white, so long as red and black wires are there it will run at its proper speed all the time. zipp51 Posted December 10, 2002 Share Posted December 10, 2002 ThA,46c is normal for your Tbird.As far as the fan fluxuating,they all do that but if you are dropping more than 500rpm to 1000rpm you may want to try connecting to the mobo or power supply directly.Recently I changed power supplies in a system which has dual fans and consequently two wire outputs,both connected to the mobo.For some reason one of the fans would rev up high and then slow down to barely moving.All I did was to connect that fan to the ps directly.If you have a utility which monitors fan rpm's on your mobo you can check this out.Keep an eye on it anyhow you never know if your fan or ps is on it's way out. I can't view my rpm, since it not connected on mobo and I heard something about if you have bigger thatn stock heatsinks its better not to put it on mobo because they consume to much energy...
