Hello folks:

Look my problem. I'm running a DUAL XEON server, with windows 2003 standard edition.

I don't have any domain, DNS or DHCP configured here. It's a clean instalation, that just runs workgroup name. All simply.

My problem is, i have a cable modem link here, and other 10 clients machines.

What i'm doing:

I plug the cable modem on first NIC in server, and on the second NIC i plug the cable to go to switch.

All works fine.

So i just enable ICS on cable NIC, and it shares the connection to switch.

OK, clients recive ip's bla bla bla, every thing seems it's ok.

BUUT.

Some times, clients just stop open I.E pages. Look, clients still with ip's, and things like MSN, STEAM, MIRC still working, just web pages stop work.

So, i'm checking server, and in DOS prompt i made a ipconfig /all command.

And i found it:

PAY ATTENTION on "servidor DHCP" that mean DHCP Server in english. Had a different IP: Servidor DHCP. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.15.1.2

So, my doubt is, maybe it can casue the loose of I.E connection some times ??

Why is that a diferent IP?

And i need active, or change any config, under NIC on clients to do it works fine without that losse connections ??


Look, it just happens some times, not all time. I called to my ISP, and they told me it's all fine, so i disabled and enabled again ICS on serever, and works again.

But i'm not sure, should i change any config in Server or in clients ??

Have you considered using a cable/dsl router? instead of using ICS, and not reliant on the server working then

Get one with DHCP & a firewall and it'll be so much easier for you, so long as you want all the pc's to have internet access - although I think there's ways of changing that if you set up a domain & use group policy
