I haven't tried installing Illustrator yet. What problems are you experiencing when you install it silently?

Would anyone care to do a simple guide for this PhotoshopCS2 app to assist those of us without expert or professional knowledge to install it? Something that's been tested preferably. As I have tried all the suggested methods, apart from the autoit script by Blinkdt as thats for a CD install running from an autorun.inf POST install and nothing to do with installing from RunOnceEx.cmd or batch_file.cmd as most people use as part of their Unattended CD - and as I cant use Autoit, therefore cant adapt it.
What we need is a guide to install CS2 silently (or quietly), get rid of the activation nag screen, and register it all done during RunOnceEx (or Batch_file.cmd).
At the moment we've got 1]editing abcopy.inf, 2]using modified msi, 3]using mst files, 4]autoIT scripts, 5]keygenerators, 6]copying .dat files and godknows what else. People are also posting in this thread about Illustrator, too!

I would love to do a guide if I can get the darn thing working! :realmad:

Btw, the postings about Illustrator are ok since both programs use the same method for activation, store their .dat files in the same location, and make very similar registry changes. So from what I can tell, a guide for one is a guide for both, if anyone ever creates one. :whistle:

My trimmed-down PhotoshopCS2 directory is a whopping 271MB. Even RAR'ed, it's still hefty
Nowadays we're all using 7zip on Ultra setting. I've taken the source of CD1 of Office 2003 Pro from 630mb down to 89mb and the ONLY thing left out is Outlook (as I dont use it). Even got all the "OfficeTools" on it. So unlike most things in life, size isn't really an issue!

quelching the activation is easy enough using a compiled AutoIt script or the modified .msi

Agreed, I can install it, no problems, but I get the activaton screen on first run.
With the CS V8 I could dummy install it, activate it and retrieve 2 files from the installdir and 3 from the installdir\activation dir. Then I could use my U/A CD to install it and then just silently copy/overwrite these 5 files over to the correct dir's at next entry on RunOnceEx.
Can't figure a similar way though with CS2? But there obviously must be a similar routine, its just that I'm not technically competent enough to work out what it is. This is why I use the forum - hopefully to get help from those more technically minded kind enough to help.
P.S. The URL for the official Adobe help page for silent install (mentioned earlier in this thread) - I have read it and it basically tells you how to silently install, but again, not silently activate!
Please someone - give us a Guide.

Is there any way to check with autoit if Photoshop is already activated?

(Look for a file etc.)

I can install it silently either by editing the abcopy.inf file or using the hacked msi supplied in earlier post or even using the mst way. BUT I still get the activation screen on first run.
We need someone <blinkdt, nologic???> ;) to adapt the autoit script for use during RunOnceEx, but I'm not good enough at autoit to do it!
Then someone can bring all the threads together in a guide.
We're almost there!

Dunno if it's been posted yet ... but I used the custom MSI/MST (whichever flavor you prefer), and I got the activation window when I first started photoshop. To disable the popup window, I copied over the activation data (as the thread starter posted), and then added the following to the registry.

I tried it without adding this to the registry, and I still got the activation prompt on first load of photoshop.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\ALM\B2B86000]
"ActivationType"=dword:00000002
"ActivationStatus"=dword:00000001

I didn't get an activation prompt when I started Photoshop.

That will only work on the computer you originally installed Photoshop on (and copied file from).

Hiya guys, I have been reading the website for a couple of days now looking for help and advice. While chasing up some of the links I have seen posted I came across this.

Silent Install

Now the long and the short of it is and I thought this make a difference to some of the information I have seen posted here is the following.

Quote

When purchased through the volume licensing program, Adobe Creative Suite 2.0 allows silent installation on both Windows and Mac OS. When purchased as an individual product, Adobe Creative Suite 2 requires activation and therefore doesn't support silent installation.

I have read here somewhere that people don't think there will be a Corporate version release yet surely that is what "volume licensing" means, as in if they are able to install the Adobe Creative Suite CS2 without an activation they must be releasing a Corp version.

I just thought I would post this because I thought it might enlighten some :)

can someone release the msi without the need for copying photoshop.cer...the reason I ask is when doing an admin install, it complains about only that file...even though it exists...so im thinking about copying it over once adobe has installed...but I would like an msi without the need for that file so that it doesnt complain during the silent install. any help is greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, did it myself...saved 30mb (by using 7zip on the admin source and creating a sfx installer)...silent install goes without a hitch using admin install source...

HEY!!!!!

To everyone looking for a modified MSI for Photoshop and/or Illustrator. Installing with a modified MSI will invalidate your warantee.

Now, There is a much easier way to do what you are looking for. To get rid of the "Please register.." dialogs after the installs, just create teh folowing registry entries:

Photoshop CS2:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Adobe Photoshop CS2 - {236BB7C4-4419-42FD-0409-1E257A25E34D}]
"EPIC_REGS_COUNT"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_DATE"="2005-06-21 10:37"
"EPIC_REGS_LANG"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_STATE"=dword:00000002
"EPIC_REGS_TYPE"=dword:00000004

Illustrator CS2:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{B2F5D08C-7E79-4FCD-AAF4-57AD35FF0601}]
"EPIC_REGS_COUNT"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_DATE"="2005-06-21 10:37"
"EPIC_REGS_LANG"=dword:00000000
"EPIC_REGS_STATE"=dword:00000002
"EPIC_REGS_TYPE"=dword:00000004

This will prevent the registration dialog from appearing. If you have the software to do so, you can create a transform off the original MSI containing these entries.

for the serial number, just add it to the command line.

Photoshop:
%windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /i"Adobe Photoshop CS2.msi" ISX_SERIALNUM="1045-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" /qb+

Illustrator:
%windir%\system32\msiexec /i "Adobe Illustrator CS2.msi" /qb+ SERIALNUMBER="1034-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"

Photoshop requires the ISX_SERIALNUM property, and Illustrator requires the SERIALNUMBER property.

I will admit to having skimmed the last three pages of posts. If Anyone else has other issues, give me a ring bwbublitz @ Ra.rockwell.com

Do you really want it that everyone gets your serial number? ... I don't think so, so please edit your post.
