Hey guys. I haven't been able to access my hotmail account for some time. Tired of waiting I decided to uninstall messenger and then reinstall. As far as I know the old address is gone, but I can't remove it from the sign in. Any ideas how to do this?
As well, in the drop-down list I have 4 different entries. Any ideas how to remove those as well?
Thanks.

If you're talking about the xp utility, I'm not really sure what that removes, but I downloaded it and it said there was nothing to remove.
What I have tried is
run-control userpasswords2 and delete from there but it's still listed when I go back.
Any other ideas?

uninstall MSN messenger and reinstall it.
OR, you could try this it should work:

open up IE and go to Tools > internet options

now, click on Temporary internet files: [Delete files]

Then below that click [Clear history]

did that clear it? (it works on the run shell)
if not try this:

in IE go to Tools > internet options again.

click the Content tab.
then click the Auto Complete button, hit Clear passwords and also Clear Forms
Still not work?

in MSN messenger go to the Help tab, then click About MSN messenger
What version of MSN messenger are you using?

Hey FthrJACK, thanks for your quick reply. I did uninstall messenger last night. Then I reinstalled but it's not the same. Now I have msn messenger (before it was just messenger), but even after a reinstall the old e-mail is still there. I tried clearing everything you suggested but still no go. So now I tried to uninstall again and it states I don't have messenger installed (which I think is because I now have "msn" messenger (2 different programs? I'm assuming.) I don't know, I'm confused!!
BTW I don't use auto complete and I clear that stuff all the time. The version of messenger is 5.0.
Does any of that make sense to you?

uninstall messenger by going to Start > run and in the run box put in this:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

it will remove messenger, also you should uninstall MSN messenger, then go to C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\

delete that folder (after uninstalling it)
now install MSN and all the old mails etc should be gone.

I think if you go to Tools > Internet Options > Content ....from here you should be able to click on Auto--Complete and then select Clear Forms from here...that may work. :santa

Sorry FthrJACK, I'd like to give all the credit to you, but sadly a restore is what fixed my messenger problem-the fix you gave didn't work either so I got tired of messing around.

To get rid of the email addresses when you sign into messenger.

Go to Start/Control Panel

Select User accounts.

Click on your account, in the left column, select Manage My Network Passwords.

Delete/remove the email address of choice.

What if i don't want to use TweakXP.
I will not even talk about using .vbs and .exe

Any other solution?

Its not TweakXP shareware program. Its TweakUI made for Microsoft and hosted on Microsoft site.

Unread mail removal
Start/Run/Regedit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Your E-Mail Address]. In the right pane modify: Message Count, Change it to 0.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail. In the right pane modify: MessageExpiryDays Change it to 0.

Remove Windows Messenger
Remove Messenger from XP

Start/Run/
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Not using VBS or EXE files can limit you.

Yeh you can do it that way but easier and faster is to copy and paste the run command instead of fiddling around with te SYSOC.inf file.

Again, user choice
