Hi everyone

I thought it might be handy to have a thread on this for those large games that take ages to install and that are on more than one CD/DVD etc., plus take ages to update too etc.

Also, this is refering mainly to the installed game, not just adding all the CDs/installation media together (as you still have to install it lol)

I could update this first post and maintain a list at the begining so people don't have to search through a load of posts, etc.

** Please either psot to add to the request list or PM me and I'll add it to the list :) **

Current Requests:

- Final Fantasy XI
- Neverwinter Nights (with SOU & HoTU expansion packs)
- Baldurs Gate (and Tales of the Sword Coast exp pack - 5 CD ver)

...

Partial Solutions:

...

Current Solutions:

- STEAM games by Valve Software

...

I hope my thread makes sense and it could be handy for those who wipe and install windows often, but hate the hassle of installing large games over and over lol

And just to point it out, I'm not intending this to be at all warez related - only to help everyone in the time-consuming games re-installs :)

Regards,
Nath.

For STEAM games by Valve Software
(Counter Strike, Half-Life, Half-Life2, etc.):

To backup:
  • Backup your STEAM directory and all game subdirectories under it. (warning: this will at least a couple gigs)
  • Use regedit to backup HKLM\SOFTWARE\Steam and HKCU\Software\Steam
To Restore:
  • Restore your STEAM directory and all game subdirectories under it.
  • Restore your HKLM\SOFTWARE\Steam and HKCU\Software\Steam using the .reg files you created
  • Create a shortcut to steam.exe
  • Verify you are connect to the internet
  • Start steam and enter your password
Pretty simple actually.
