Improved MODE.COM, also part of FreeDOS [65 KB, free GPL]:
http://www.coli.uni-saarland.de/~eric/stuf...e-30nov2004.zip
More info:
http://www.freedos.org/freedos/software/ls...a=base/mode.lsm
To learn how to use it, run:

mode /? | more

or:

mode /? > modecmd.txt

and then open modecmd.txt in Notepad.

Works with any version of DOS + Windows 3.x/9x/ME.
Doesn't probably work with WinNTx [NT/2000/XP/2003/Longhorn] because these OSes don't allow direct access to hardware the way DOS + Win9x/ME do.
If using WinNTx u need its own mode.com found usually in %windir%\system32 .

Hope this helps.
