colour settings Rate Topic: -----

having not done any work with win me for some time have recently just done a fresh install on a formatted hard drive ,all i am getting is 16 colours and 640 x 480 pixels i remember having this problem in the past but at that time wa able to resolve it but i just cant remember now how i done it any help in restoring the colours ans size would be appreciated

probably need to install the graphics drivers for your graphics card ata guess.

according to device manager graphics card is in working order if i remember right it was something simple but for the life of me i just cant remember what it is

find the newest drivers you can for the card you have,
install them.

restart the computer (if not prompted to do so already).

then make sure the graphics acceleration is turned all the way up -
right click 'My Computer' > Properties > Preformance > Graphics
slide the slider here all the way to the right, mmmkay ?.

restart the computer (if not prompted to do so already).

Right Click on the 'Desktop' > Properties > Settings
select your required color depth & required resolution here.
then
Right Click on the 'Desktop' > Properties > Effects
select 'Show icons using all possible colors' here.

restart the computer (if not prompted to do so already).

that should be it :unsure:
