When I browse network computers from a client computer I can't see the computers which reside in different subnet, although they are in the same workgroup. I can only access them thru \\computername or by doing a search for them.

Example:
Computer 1:
IP:192.168.1.2
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0

Computer 2:
IP:192.168.2.2
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
Now this two computer dont see each.

My network diagram:

All three of the client computers are running WinXP SP2+updates

--------------
I heard I could try to add a WINS server. That should help with seeing computers in other subnets. But I have no idea how to go about this.
Any help would be hot!

ps. NETBIOS is enabled and on the server machine which is run by Windows 2000 PRO I have set these registry modifications:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters]
"IsDomainMaster"="True"
"MaintainServerList"="Yes"

try putting them on the same ip range. Like your one computer is 192.168.1.2, make your other one 192.168.1.3 instead of 192.168.2.2

just an idea !
i have problems , in same network, same IP range , with computers with XP_PRO_SP2 and others with XP_PRO_SP1 . SP2's computers view each other , SP1's also , but nothing between SP1's and SP2's . solve with SP2 everywhere .
also problems i have with computers with XP_PRO_SP1 registered in a W2kserver_domain after an update with SP2 . that i solve with re_registration on the domain.

If you changed the Subnet Mask to 255.255.0.0 on both, then you should solve the problem (i think)

They wont see each other otherwise - this is by design i believe.

Give it a try and see how that goes.

Cheers,
N.

When I tried your advice only the connection from client2server worked but not client2client. So it was even worse.

Anymore advices?
ps. What about setting up a WINS server will that do what I want?
