Cool!
I'll check if the latest BROWSEUI.DLL has the same problem with the Windows Me Explorer as the previous version did...

Also, Sun Java 6.0 Update 5 is out. I have not tested it yet though... I'll post the results...

EDIT: KB944533 looks good so far... Java 6.0u5 looks good so far...

EDIT2: It's been 12 days and all is good! KB944533 must be the best IE6 SP1 update pack that MS have released.
No problems. Not a sausage. Zilch. Java 6u5 is just as stable.
Sweet as!

Enjoy.

Thanks for posting. The JEMMEX dos utils make me very happy. I might have done things wrong in the past with others, but this is the first UDMA manager that works on my VIA chipset/mainboard. Backing up my Windows partition now takes 14 minutes instead of 25!

RetroOS, Microsoft made the official KB944533 IE6 SP1 update for Win2000 SP4 systems only. The unofficial KB944533 IE6 SP1 update for Win98/ME is made by someone else other than MS.

Bad news about KB941029 msvbvm60.dll 6.00.9802 hotfix. It's no longer available, but the good news is that version 6.00.9802 of the msvbvm60.dll file IS included in WinVista SP1 and WinXP SP3. I've obtained this newer file from the XP SP3 RC2 pack. Let me know if anybody wants version 6.0.98.02 of the msvbvm60.dll file.

Note to MDGx: I've released version 2.50 of the unofficial Win98 FE service pack almost 2 weeks ago:

Unofficial Win98 FE SP 2.50 Full Edition-
http://www.usaupload.net/d/yewpi8d9czk

Unofficial Win98 FE SP 2.50 Lite Edition-
http://www.usaupload.net/d/8u6ccpuwmhd

AND I have just re-posted my Win98 & ME Updates page.

Yeah, not the best wording... I must have got caught up in the happiness of the moment!
I should have said that the updated binaries from KB944533 are really stable...
Anyway, I'm sure by now that most readers know that MS have not released an official IE6 SP1 update for 9x for ages...

Thanks for clearing up my ambiguous wording. :D

And, thanks MDGx for more updates!

Another great suite of updates from MDGx!
OLEUP, VBVM60, and SCR579x all good so far...

WIA 1.0 (from previous update additions) back-dated some files...
I understand that it overwrites various STI files with the Me versions...
However, it back-dated Twain files (I'm using the newer versions from XP SP2) and also MSVCP50.DLL.

TWUNK_32.EXE 1.7.1.0 > 1.7.0.0
TWAIN_32.DLL 1.7.1.1 > 1.7.1.0
MSVCP50.DLL 5.00.7051 > 5.00.7022

These files are not unique to Windows Me and should not be back-dated, especially MSVCP50.DLL since it could break some older software.

CRYPTME has 128SC.DLL file! Remove it and any references to 128SC.DLL as it is NOT needed and outdated for WinME. Revise the CRYPTME.EXE patch. WinME has built-in 128bit SSL encryption for IE.
You're right.
SCHANNEL.DLL is ver 5.131.2133.2 on WinME.
I took schannel.dll from WinME CD, renamed it to 128sc.dll and added it to cryptme.exe for completeness.

Hi MDGx,

I notice that you've also added 128sc.dll to your CRYPT9X.EXE package (intended for 98/98SE). But you have removed schannel.dll from it, too. Could you please explain the reasoning here? Do you intend for 128sc.dll to replace schannel.dll, for example?

Just by way of comparison, Gape's USP3 installs schannel.dll.

I think so, bristols. After the 128sc.dll file is copied onto the computer, it will then be renamed to schannel.dll. He kinda "designed" it that way. There's no need to worry about that.

MDGx, MS has posted the MS08-022 Jscript.dll + Vbscript.dll security updates:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms08-022.mspx

If you take a look at MS KB article 944338:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/944338
The jscript.dll & vbscript.dll files for WSH 5.6 are version 5.6.0.8835. Can you include these files into your unofficial MSE 5.6 pack for Win98/ME and for NT4?

So recently I tried to install the newest "DirectX End-User Runtimes (March 2008)" .
I could install the pack but furthermore it wasn't even displayed why it couldn't be installed.
It didn't say non compatbile with Windows 98/ME althought only systems since Win 2000 are listed in the downloads so I just wonder why no message comes up whats wrong.
Any ideas what to change?
Yah the download file is:
directx_mar2008_redist.exe

Hi winxpi,
Microsoft dropped two files out of the DirectX redist since Dec 2006.
These two are BDA.cab and DirectX.cab. These two files have to be installed before any newer updates will install on Windows 98/Me.
If you have never installed the December 2006 DirectX redist then any newer ones will not install properly.
Download the Dec 2006 DirectX redist and install first, and then you can install newer ones any time.
Download: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;DisplayLang=en
;)

Hmm... I installed the March 2008 Redist recently with no problems...
It started, copied some updated Managed DirectX files, and ended successfully...
Not sure why yours fails...
DirectX cannot be 'uninstalled' since it is an integral part of Windows, so you can't remove it and reinstall it...
What is your Windows version? 98, 98SE, Me?
Also, what update packs (if any) have been installed - like Auto-Patcher 98SE, Unofficial 98SE Service Pack, Revolutions Pack 7, 98SE2ME, and so on?

DirectX 9.0c files for Win9x/ME are not included in the March 2008 DX release.
Actually they are not included begining with the Jan 2007 release.
Last official DX for 9x/ME OSes is Dec 2006.

All you installed was a couple of MDX reg entries [which are useless to Win9x/ME OSes, because DX has not been updated for these OSes since Dec 2006], nothing else.

Last DX release compatible with 9x/ME OSes is here [please see which OSes each applies to]:
http://www.mdgx.com/dx.htm#DX9
respectively:
- unofficial, updated to August 2007 [includes a few MDX files and reg entries, which were not in the Dec 2006 release]:
http://www.mdgx.com/files/DX90C.EXE
- official, Dec 2006:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/c...2006_redist.exe

Actually, March 2008 Redist did install some updated MDX dlls - I watched the status line...
Of course, they may not do anything in 9x...
