I had downloaded the last Java runtimes (jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe) 10 days ago, on april 18th. Are you sure there is an update?

...and how many update of DTS will there be?

CRYPTDLG.DLL 5.0.1558.6608 CRYPTUI.DLL 5.131.2195.6824

NO, PROBLEMCHYLD, those versions of the CRYPT32.DLL & CRYPTUI.DLL files do NOT work. They can mess up your Win98se machine.

New Jet 4.0 MS08-028 security updates:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/MS08-028.mspx

Whenever MDGx has some spare time, he should use the KB950749 files from the Win2000 patch.

And the links to my unofficial Win98 FE SP 2.50 packs only points to the full SP on his Software Essentials page. He'll need to fix that "oopsie" and follow my suggestions to rename the full 98 SP 2.50 pack to 98FESP2F.EXE and rename the lite 98 SP 2.50 pack to 98FESP2L.EXE.

For now the full 98fe SP 2.50 pack is here:
http://www.usaupload.net/d/yewpi8d9czk

and the lite 98fe SP 2.50 pack from here:
http://www.usaupload.net/d/8u6ccpuwmhd

AVOID getting any of my 98fe SP packs from MDGx's web site until he posts up the correct editions on his web site.

cryptdlg.dll 5.0.1558.6608 works without a problem on 98se.

I'd recommend it get included in the unofficial updates sometime.

I've been running Java 6 update 6 for three weeks... It appears to me to be unstable and causing Internet Explorer to crash...
I've rolled back to Java 6 update 5 that was totally stable.
Will post results...

Latest versions in Office 2003 seems to be:
HTML32.CNV 2003.1100.6252 (KB841532 = SP1)
MSWRD832.CNV 2003.1100.6252 (KB841532 = SP1)
MSCONV97.DLL 2003.1100.6252 (KB841532 = SP1, KB873378)

Latest version of HTML32.CNV seems to be 2003.1100.8165 from KB923618 Office 2003 SP3
for MSCONV97.DLL & MSWRD832.CNV it's version 2003.1100.8166 from KB923618 Office 2003 SP3.

MDGx may also want to obtain those three files and the updated graphics filter files from Office 2003 SP3 (KB923618). Use the MSIX - Patch Files Extractor app to extract the files from the Mainsp3.MSP file of KB923618.

Also can anyone attempt to download EXE files that are posted directly from MDGx's web site? Right now I seem to be getting "403 Forbidden" error messages when attempting to download any EXE files posted on his web site.

Got the same 403 error last night checking on MDGX's page after reading a similar report on this board.

ok, tested downloading some stuff from MDGx's web site. most of them worked.
however, "Unofficial Windows 98 SE Networking Errors VNETBIOS.VXD 4.90.3001 Fix" link is not working; get 404 File Not Found error message. looks like this patch has been removed from his web site.

And I have uploaded the Unofficial Windows Media Player 9.0 (WMP9) Update Rollup Packs (URP) for Windows 98, 2000 & ME [June 2008 Releases] here:
http://www.usaupload.net/d/91td72ov7a0
I've fixed a major installation problem with the Unofficial WMP9 URP pack for Win98/ME and updated the WMP9 files to the ones from XP SP3 in both WMP9 URP packs for Win98/ME and Win2000.

these are newer than the ones posted at MDGx's WMP page.

As a temporary solution, until MDGx fixes it, I've reuploaded VNETBIOS.VXD 4.90.3001 (the vxd only, it has to be installed by hand) and updated the link in my original post (link), so that it is active again. HTH

Hi everybody,

My web site provider screwed up a huge number of files + folders at my site in the last 3 weeks, and I can't even access them using ftp [they changed permissions on the server].
I'm still waiting for them to fix this, their tech support is extremely slow. :(

I'll let you guys know when my site will be back 100%.

Best wishes,
MDGx

RICHED9X...
I installed it around late April...
Since then I found Word XP (2002) would lockup Windows after a short time of running.
I had been using RICHED20.DLL 5.40.11.2220 that came with Office XP.
Recently I traced the lockups to a small timeframe.
I determined that RICHED9X was the only significant change I had made then...
So, I have rolled back RICHED20.DLL from 5.50.99.2014 to 5.40.11.2220...
So far no lockups.
The reason I figured it was RICHED20.DLL, was that when Windows locked up, the text in Word next to the cursor would have some lines of pixels displaced horizontally.
When I say lockup, I mean full-on freeze with no mouse movement or anything - no Ctrl-Alt-Delete, just the power button...

So, it would appear that RICHED20.DLL 5.50.99.2014 is incompatible with Word XP (2002).
If anyone is using Office XP in Windows 98SE, make a copy of RICHED20.DLL from the Windows System folder, and test RICHED9X with Word XP.
The copy of RICHED20.DLL can always be copied back if it does not work.

Thanks for this info.
It happens that I have Word XP and RICHED20.DLL 5.50.99.2014 installed. Thought I almost never use Word, I made a test at the moment and no crash and no line of pixels on the text.
Could you describe what operation you are doing exactely, what settings and after how much work it freees?

I thought MS Office used its own copy of RichEdit... I just performed a search and indeed found one at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Office10\RICHED20.DLL
Its version is 5.40.11.2220 and is most likely the original one installed by Office XP.

On this occasion I found out that PhotoScape installs its own copy of riched20.dll in its main folder. Version is 5.30.23.1215.

My system-wide RichEdit version (in the System folder) is 5.30.23.1221 and I chose that one due to some quirk with newer versions and the SpellChecker Miranda IM plug-in (issue that I've mentioned some time ago in these forums).

At this time I wonder if RICHED9X replaces or not the original copy of riched20.dll in the Common Files folder and also if MS Office checks for a newer version of it in the System folder and chooses to use that one instead of the original copy in Common Files. With my current setup, I just checked and WINWORD.EXE loads the Common Files copy. Anyone who has a newer version of riched20.dll in System than the one in Common Files, could you check which version is loaded by Word on your system? (I've used Codestuff Starter for that)

I have RICHED20.DLL 5.50.99.2014 installed and C:\Program Files\Common Files\...\RICHED20.DLL is version 5.40.11.2220.
Word loads the dll from comon files (the 5.40.11.2220 version).

After you locate all of them, rename all but the one in %windir%\system to riched20.old and every program will use the newer version. The renaming is best done in DOS mode, from real DOS. Then again, any .dll that is not in use can be renamed from inside Windows, so, just after starting the system, you may search all the duplicate files and rename most of them from windows (right in the Find Files result window) and just go to DOS to rename the few, if any, that refuses to be renamed because of being in use. HTH

...

That is correct! I orginally updated my version in Windows System from the Common Files 5.40.x version.
I did not actually check that Word was loading the System version when I was using 5.50.x.
All I know is that Word and Windows was guaranteed to hang after a short time every time I used it.
Copying the Common Files version 5.40.x back into System solved the problem.

Could you try dencorso's advice (only one copy of riched20.dll, located in System) with v5.50.x.x?

I wonder if there's a conflict between simultaneously loaded versions of RichEdit or if v5.50.x.x has issues.

Also if anyone else has such a combination of RichEdit on their system, please post about your experience.
