Thanks MDGx. I just tried loading the WMP 9 Q2378111 (MS10-082) WMP.DLL Fix (M2378111.exe) but got an error message saying wrong version of Windows Media Player. I definitely have WMP 9 installed. Is there some problem with the update? I'm going to try loading it on another system later to see if it also recurs.

It may be the WMP.DLL detection routine I placed in the SED file.
I've just updated it to include all older builds of WMP.DLL up to build 9.0.0.4509 [right below the one installed by this fix: 9.0.0.4510].

Please d/l the fix again (1.9 MB), and test it. Theoretically it should work ok now.
Tx 4 noticing.

Greetings,

"Unofficial Windows 95/98/ME Visual Studio 6.0 SP6 Components" (VS6SP6U.EXE), published at this address:
http://www.mdgx.com/files/VS6SP6U.EXE , includes Richtx32.ocx file in the 6.01.9816 version,
Whereas "Unofficial Windows 95/98/ME Rich Text (RTF) Edit Controls Update" (RICHED9X.EXE), at this address:
http://www.mdgx.com/files/RICHED9X.EXE , includes Richtx32.ocx file in the 6.01.9782 version - the older one.

Shouldn't the Richtx32.ocx file in 6.01.9816 version be also brought in to the RICHED9X.EXE ?
Thanks for your feedback.

Good point.
But it looks like other people here at MSFN [older posts in the RichEdit topic], a while back, experienced problems/bugs with newer rich controls, so I left those files the way they are.
If you [and eventually others] confirm that the newer richtx32.ocx works ok, I'll update RICHED9X with the newest one.
Tx

HTH
You twisted my arm real bad...
... So I've updated RICHED9X.EXE [Win95/98/ME] + RICHEDNT.EXE [WinNT4] with newer RICHTX32.OCX 6.1.9782 ::
>here< + >here<.

Enjoy. ;)

Thank you as always for your excellent work and fast response, MDGx! The updated fix appears to install and work fine. I did previously manually update WMP.DLL to 9.00.00.4508 to implement KB979402.

I also wasn't familiar with the term "SED file" but a brief Google search corrected that. :)

In RICHEDNT.EXE (for Windows NT 4.0) Riched.dll file is exactly the same as in RICHED9x.EXE (for Windows 9x/ME) - so the file suitable Riched.dll Polish version, which convey in the previous my post.

Riched32.dll 5.0.2134.1 there is no Polish version, English version is a universal version.

MDGx, I'm curious to why you didn't add SECUR32.DLL 4.10.0.2228 to your CRYPT9X.EXE.
The reason is, all the files in CRYPT9X.EXE is 128-bit SSL Encryption Security Vulnerability Fixes.

Soon [in a few days] I'll have the new Q2416400 (MS10-090) IE 6.0 SP1 security fix [I'm still working on it, not enough spare time ;-(] posted here:
http://www.mdgx.com/ietoy.htm#IEC
The file name will be I2416400.EXE [Win98/98 SP1/98 SE/ME OSes], and the actual link will be [right now this link doesn't exist ;-)]:
http://www.mdgx.com/files/I2416400.EXE
I'll also have X2416400.EXE for Win2000/XP Pre-SP2, which is actually the unofficial Wild Bill's patch (http://www.msfn.org/...pic=146529&st=2), available on MSFN forums.
I2416400.EXE will replace I2360131.EXE .
X2416400.EXE will replace X2360131.EXE .

I am thinking of installing the windows 98 un-official updates, and wondered if anyone could let me know of anything to watch out for, for instance someone mentioned about the need to edit short cuts, and could anyone actually confirm this.

I don't use I.E6 much, but I believe there to be a security fix for it, is this not in amongst the un-official updates, or does this need to be part of the separate install as per the earlier post.

Thanks for any help.
