Offline Windows Update

Recommended Posts

I am loading a few machines at a time, each has to do their own windows update. But this is a lengthy procedure and takes up network bandwidth connecting to the Windows Update site the whole time.

Is there a way that I can download the updates to a folder and manually install them on these machines?

- If you have a server running on your network, as a alternative, you could try:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Or the new WSUS:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserversyst...loads/WSUS.mspx

(Register on the right-hand side and take it from there)

- No server then you could download the hotfixes and create a script to install each one silently without restarting.

Bit fiddly but its how I do win98 hotfixes @ work and it works well.

Regards,

N.
