what is the best compression for a video file so that i can get it rly small, ive been messing around with encoding and the smallest so far is wmv

looks like a good program but only works with mpeg2

try dr.divX gives the best compression or ashampoo.

note:-dr.divX is a bit slow

You can get get better quality and smaller files of smoother playback and fast seeking using RV10. Get Easy Real Media Producer on Doom9.

well i found sumthin like vmware decoder its got a gud video compression but alas no sound since vmware can't play sound

All you could ever want to know about audio and video. Links to doom9.org in many of their guides.

The lower the bitrate you use, the lower the quality is going to be.

Use VirtualDub and XviD codec to produce good AVIs. Not WMVs...
