Recently i installed Microsoft Office 2000 on a PC running Windows 98SE and it installed OK until it reached the point where it asks for the system to be rebooted. The PC crashed and after shutting down and then restarting and going through scandisk wouldn't pick up the install programme. When i tried to restart the install programme it basically told me that it won't install because of a previous installation has been detected. I was told to use Registry Mechanic to clean out any entries in the registry for Office 2000 and after doing so and deleting the main Office folder it still won't install. What i need to do is wipe any trace of Office 2000 off the system and then proceed to install again but i don't know how so any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated

Use Filemon and Regmon from Sysinternals to know where the installer looks to assess Office is installed on your system and delete accordingly.
As well, next time, monitor your Office install (or any other install) with InstallWatch. See this topic : http://www.msfn.org/...showtopic=49820

Please bear with me as i'm not very good with PC maintenance. I have three quick questions
What is Filemon and Regmon ?
What is Sysinternals ?
And is there any other way round this problem ?
