Hi all,
When you join 2000 or XP PC's to a 2000/2003 AD Domain PC's register themselves in DNS.
Why is this> because of Active Directory Functionality and GPO's ? if not can it be stopped and is it a good or bad idea.
Thanks

It depends on your setup. PC's dont even have to be a member of the domain to register themselves in DNS. If you are runing DHCP the DHCP server will register those computers in DNS.
It is a good idea because trying to maintain an up to date INTERNAL DNS is a pain.

DNS didnt become part of Active Directory until Win2k so yes that would only count for 2000/2003 and NOT NT4
FYI: you can disable dynamic registration of DHCP clients into DNS on 2000/2003
