I'm guessing the model is ClawHammer or San Diego... and E5 stepping? I don't think that is even out there yet...

I was going by an ad at techbargains.com from monarch computer....

"AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor $269.99 - July 29, 2005
Monarch Computer has the AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Processor Socket 939 (Latest Rev E - San Diego Core) OEM CPU only for only $299 - $39 off Coupon: 1PH7-O7PZF8 = $260. No fan. Free shipping, tax in GA. $340+ elsewhere. "

I ordered one from newegg and got an E4 revision and was curious what the difference was.

Is this the one u bought?
But like i said earlier... I haven't heard anything about the E5 revision... I'll keep looking for anything on a E5 revision, but it doesn't look good 2 me...

Since u r a little drunker now than u were b4... i'll help u out a little.. look at the code above.... then look at the CPU-Stepping.... The CPU-Stepping is what he wants to know about... but i have never heard of a E5 revision and at that i don't think AMD would still call the revision San Diego due to that it may cause confusion 4 people...

yea, bought my clawhammer 3200 at release (nov 03), now im running a 4000+, REALLY wanted one of the toledo cores, but the 4400 wasnt enough of a bump in speed (imo), and the 4800 was 2x the cost of my 4000+. starting to regret it tho, nvidia is taliking about utilizing the dual cores in there drivers...

as for upgrading to often.. the 3200 cost me ~$425 at release, the prior 6-8 months i went thru about 6 2500 bartons plus at least 5 mobos. add that up and the $425 i paid for 18months i used the 3200 look nice and cheap.

rip thanks for the info on the turion/mobiles, havent looked at amd for mobiles at all yet...

how did u go thru 6 2500+ bartons? let me guess u overclocked and fried them along with the mobos... lol... as for the 4000+ i would have just bought a dual-core... a little more expensive but it would have been better in the long run

didn't fry any of them, just wanted one that would clock higher than 2400mhz. :D

as for the x2's i was seriously leaning towards that route.. but considering that i was on a 2ghz 1meg L2 chip, and that i'd have to drop $700+ for a x2 4400 that was at 2.2 just wasnt worth the $$ for the 200mhz bump for performance now. my rig gets used 95% for gaming, the rest is just surfing porn :blushing: . now in a year+ when multithreaded games come out, i'll throw this 4000 in my server and buy a x2 (5400+ 2.8ghz, 1meg L2? :w00t: ). the only other thing that could push that date closer would be a good size performance jump from nvidias drivers taking advantage of dual core.
