I'm running Win98SE and and use a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter (WG111).
The adapter used to work wonderfully. Then I reformatted the computer and my headaches started.
Now whenever I unplug the WG111 my computer freezes. (I can still move the mouse around, but no response when I try clicking on anything). Sometimes it'll clear up after a few seconds, other times it'll stay frozen. When I hit ALT+CTRL+DEL I see that "msgsrv32" is listed as "not responding"
When I end the task, my computer returns to normal. However, when I try to shut it down, I'll hang at the "Windows Shutting Down" screen.
I did two clean installs to try to fix the problem, unfortunately it didn't work.
Strangely, I have an older computer also running Win98 SE and I use the same adapter on it and have no problems after unplugging it.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Optional:
Install 98SE2ME because it installs WinME updated USB driver support:

Install NUSB:
