This morning I updated a box with the W2K rollup. The update procedure went well. No problems. I rebooted the machine as the update procedure requested. When I attempted to connect to the Internet via my browser it failed! I tried several applications Outlook, IE, ZoneAlarm just to name a few. At this point reaching the Internet is impossible.

I ran a LspFix followed by a WinsockFix and rebooted the machine. When the machine rebooted I still could not reach the Internet. :(

What am I missing (besides the Internet)?
What should I do next?

Any suggestions are comments are welcome!

Thanks! :)

ADDED:
I am thinking about uninstalling the Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4. What problems would that create by doing so?

What I have done is uninstalled the update. I wait a bit until the dust settles down before installing it again.

Hi

Just wanna tell ya it's not recommended to install the rollup by now. Severel w2k users figured out some probs after spr1 applied. Even a CPU overheating problem occured...
I'm about to make an HotfixPack for Windows 2000 Pro which can be interated directly to the i386 folder with NLite. And I await the new SPR1 anounced by M$.

chris.

i hjad major issues as well, in factit wouldn't let me log back in.
Went into safe mode removed dn thankfully all was ok after that, though it still insists on being installed via WindowsUpdate, yet all the updates this is supposed to apply have been installed anyway, a very badly written rollup.
