Okay, so here's the next one...hopefully someone will reply to this one

We have an external company handle our email at the moment...I want to move away from that, but for now that's how it is. However, one of the features my company wants is to be able to email between the staff while in the complex. These emails SHOULDN'T leave the complex! Right now they are using the external email, which means if they send a document it goes from here to the external mail servers and then back to here...not very efficient.

So is there a simple way to accomplish this? We are running Win2003 and Outlook 2003. I was looking at the Server and saw the different email services that are built-in to it...will these be sufficient enough?

The other option is to install Exchange 2003, but I don't know that package well...yet! For instance, with the correct config would I be able to use Exchange to handle our external email AND our internal email?

Yes, Exchange can do EVERYTHING for you. Exchange is very powerful and in my opinion is the best collaboration and email system available.

If you are looking for JUST EMAIL then you could use the built in smtp and pop3 services in Windows2003. I have only used this once for a small company I set some stuff up for.. not sure what the limitations for this is.

If you can get the company to go for Exchange, DO IT. It may be a little hard to understand things but it sure will make things easier in the long run...

The in-built mail server that comes with Win2003 would be a cheaper solution, if you just want basic mailing facility solution.

If you want a full-Fledge mailing solution you'll have to go in for something like Exchange server. However, the cost would put a dent in your pocket.

Personally, I always favour Lotus Domino/Lotus notes. It's much more than a mail server, but would cost more then Exchange.

If you want a cheap solution, then you can go in for something like VPOP3.
